Ráno je pošmourné a zdá se, že začne každou chvíli pršet. K snídani si dáváme tradiční čínskou polévku. Sice měníme příchuť z hovězí na zeleninovou, ale výsledek je stejný. Všechny chutnají stejně. Sbalíme stan a v sedm třicet se vydáváme na cestu do sedla Kok Ajryk. Zpočátku musíme jít po proudu řeky, přestože cesta do sedla vede proti proudu toku. Důvod je jasný, na brodění je řeka příliš dravá a jediná lávka široko daleko se nachází až u jurt, které jsou právě po proudu řeky. Od nás jsou vzdálené několik stovek metrů. U jurt nám cestu 
znepříjemňují psi, zpočátku si nás nevšímají, ale nakonec se osmělují a doráží na nás až tak, že musí na řadu přijít kameny, které se po nich snažíme házet. To je zastraší a dají pokoj.
Do sedla to má být podle informací, které máme, přibližně osm kilometrů a převýšení cca 1100 výškových metrů. Cesta se vine nejprve v příjemných serpentinách s krásnými výhledy na okolní štíty i do údolí Čong Kemin, kterým jsme přišli. Sice sem tam svítí i sluníčko, ale některé mraky se nám vůbec nelíbí. Určitě zase přijde bouřka. Z tohoto důvodu se snažíme přestávky minimalizovat. Konečně se nám otevírá výhled na sedlo Kok Ajryk (
Místy cesta docela klouže a přejít některé návěje vyžaduje jistý krok. Brána sedla už je na dosah a my máme možnost nedočkavě nahlédnout za ni do doliny Orto Koj Suu. Pohled nás však nepotěší. Počasí je na této straně hor ještě horší. Sněží, fučí a viditelnost je mizerná. Cesta dolů je však jasná, takže se v sedle ani nijak nezdržujeme a pádíme honem dolů.
Je vidět, že tu kdysi proběhla nějaká snaha vybudovat silnici nahoru do sedla a pak dále až do Kazachstánu. Pozůstatky jsou vidět všude a tak občas míjíme vraky stavebních strojů či vybydlenou maringotku, ve které alespoň chvíli nacházíme útočiště před nepřízní počasí. Občas se objevuje dokonce náznak sluníčka. Ne na dlouho, opět se zatahuje. Chceme se dostat níž, tak opouštíme maringotku a pokračujeme serpentinami dolů. Často si krátíme cestu, že zatáčky bereme přímo. Černé mraky, které se do doliny stahují nevěští nic dobrého. A také že ne. Brzy přichází první hřmění. Za chvíli blesk stíhá blesk. Bouřka je přímo nad námi. Snažíme se co nejrychleji dostat dolů. Na cestě jsme už řádně dlouho, ale touha dostat se někam níž a strach z bouřky nám nedovolují udělat si ani jedinou zastávku. Přece ta bouřka už musí skončit, nebo se alespoň někam posunout. Ta se však desítky minut drží stále nad námi. V dáli vidíme dokonce svítit sluníčko. Není to ani nijak daleko, možná tak dva tři kilometry. Ale čím blíže se posunujeme k onomu slunečnému místu, tím více se od nás toto místo vzdaluje. Prostě bouřka jde s námi. Ani si neuvědomujeme, že bez přestávky sestupujeme ze sedla od maringotky už tři hodiny. A právě po třech hodinách konečně ustává hřmění, blýskání i déšť. Nacházíme se zrovna poblíž řeky, tak vybíráme zelený plácek. Ale ouha. Okamžitě jsme v obležení pastevců, kteří mají nedaleko jurtu. Tihle jsou však hodně dotíraví, takže se rozhodujeme, že ještě popojdeme. Znovu nahodíme batohy na záda a sestupujeme dál. Po zhruba půlhodině docházíme na další rovnější místo (
Protože už zase prší, čekáme chvíli než déšť ustane a pak se vrháme na stavění stanu. Výhodou tohoto místa je, že spíme v podstatě u pramene, takže nemusíme mít strach, že voda bude znečištěná. Velké mínus však je, že se kolem nepasou jen krávy, ale i býci. Když po večeři zalehneme do stanu, tak se osmělí a jdou blíže prozkoumat vetřelce. Postupně tak v našem stanu mizí odpadky a jídlo, které jsme měli uloženo v předsíňce.
Noc nakonec probíhá v klidu. Jen občas protne černou tmu výkřik - „Jedeš krávo. Vypadni!!!!“
